Heza Grant Supports Production and Field Testing of Pathbreaking Gasifier Stove

A US $15,000 grant from Heza’s Clean Flame Fund is enabling Swedish firm Emerging Cooking Solutions to produce 80 prototypes of its innovative SupaMoto pellet gasifier stove design for field testing in multiple African countries starting in May of 2022. ECS Founder and CEO Mattias Ohlson says “Heza’s grant comes at a critical time. It enables us to get prototypes into the hands of real-world users and see how it performs in the field. Independent survey on SupaMoto shows massive impact!

An independent survey conducted by the Energy and Environment partnership Africa Trust Fund has shown massive impact. Below are few key extracts from the findings: Using the SupaMoto cookstove: The SupaMoto cookstove turns out to be a considerable time saver for respondents, who spend far fewer hours per day cooking and also, 84% of respondents now use the cookstove as their main source of heat for cooking.Impact on quality of life | General: Almost no respondents reported negative effects, and almost half of them noted an improvement in the taste of food. Among the 37% of respondents who received a solar lighting device, 63% are using it for cooking at night. NGOCC & SupaMoto sign MOU We are proud to share that we have signed an MOU with the Non-governmental Gender Organisations’ Coordinating Council (NGOCC) in the context of the Climate Change Mitigation and Resilience Program (CCMRP). NGOCC Executive Director, Engwase B. Mwale, Gabriel Mumba, Board Chairman - SupaMoto & Marion Peterson, Business Developement - SupaMoto With Zambia being among the top ten countries worldwide in terms of deforestation, several organizations including NGOCC are engaged in promoting practices to counter this trend. NGOCC, through its CCMRP project focuses on developing a model for climate smart agriculture, which is intended to be adopted and up-scaled nationwide. If successful, this will respond to one of the key drivers of deforestation: agriculture.
